Banky W says he has completed one year as a pastor. The Sun Nigeria reported on Friday, 9 October 2026, at 9:11am WAT, that Bankole Wellington tied the milestone to his 2023 election loss.
He wrote that the loss broke his heart. The Sun quoted him: “In 2023 I lost an election. And while the experience inspired me in many ways, it also broke my heart into a million little pieces.”
He said he took that to God and surrendered. QED.ng quoted the line he used to joke that the “P” in P.Banks stood for Professor, not Pastor, and that he now says God answered with both.
QED.ng said he contested the Eti-Osa Federal Constituency seat in the House of Representatives on the Peoples Democratic Party platform. He described himself as an associate pastor and global ambassador at We Are Union Church, and as a teacher and leader at Union College.
Voice of Naija said he marked what he called his “1st Unionversary.” The Sun quoted his close: “The election didn’t go the way I hoped. But God’s plans for my life are bigger than the plans I had for myself.”
He said the pastoral role sits beside business, film and music, not in place of them. No church address, ordination date beyond the one-year mark, or new project title was in the reports as of 11:12 WAT.
