“I Can Never Marry a Yoruba Woman”: Peller Says Same-Tribe Marriages Won’t Work (Video)

TikTok streamer Peller says he can never marry a Yoruba woman and is telling young Nigerians to marry outside their own tribe. In a livestream clip now spreading on X, the Yoruba-born streamer says same-tribe marriages “won’t work”.

“If you’re Yoruba and you want to marry another Yoruba person in 2026, your life is finished,” he says in the clip.

As of 8:30 AM WAT on Wednesday, 21 October, Peller had not explained or walked back the comment.

What Peller said

In the clip, Peller defends his own choice of wife and goes further. “You think I don’t have sense for marrying a Benin girl? I can never marry a Yoruba woman, God forbid,” he says.

He adds that even if he wanted a second wife, he still could not marry a Yoruba woman, according to fans transcribing the stream. He also extends the advice to Igbo couples, saying an Igbo-Igbo marriage will not work either.

How Nigerians are reacting

The comment has split the replies. Many readers called it a joke in Peller’s usual style, while others said it was unfair to Yoruba women, and some pointed to his own Yoruba parents.

Neither Peller’s wife, Jarvis, nor his management has commented on the clip.

What is not confirmed

It is not clear when the livestream took place or whether Peller was speaking seriously or playing to his chat. The quotes here come from fan transcriptions of the clip, not a statement from Peller.

The clip landed a day before Jarvis said on her own stream that she does not support Peller’s business trip to China.
