Organisers of The Headies have moved the 18th edition’s Toronto finale to April 10 and 11, 2027. The change allows an expanded programme of workshops, seminars and industry engagements in both Nigeria and Canada before the awards and the accompanying Global Trade & Investment Summit. As of 6pm WAT the original 2026 Toronto dates are no longer on the calendar.
Founder Ayo Animashaun said the wider schedule will bring artists and nominees into closer conversation with business and investment partners under the theme “Africa to the World.” Road to The Headies activities will still run during the period that had been set for the finale, with full venue and participation details still to come. The organisers apologised to guests who had already booked travel.
The Headies began as the Hip Hop World Awards in 2006 and has previously held international editions outside Nigeria. This Toronto outing follows earlier stops such as Atlanta. Further programme updates will appear on the official channels.
